Year 1 at Mountfitchet Castle
On Tuesday, year one had an educational and enjoyable trip to Mount fitchet motte and bailey castle.
The children enjoyed trying on knights' helmets and chainmail. They climbed a lot (!) of steps up to watch towers safely (to look for enemy invaders!) They had a go using a stone flour mill, catapults and stocks before exploring the Grand Hall, the medieval toilet, the herb garden and the jail!
As animals roam free around the castle grounds, we met some deer and had a beautiful show from a peacock . We even came away with a couple of feathers.
The weather was perfect for a coach trip and only heated up right at the end- encouraging a few naps on the trip back.
The children said they loved it! "That was the best day ever!"
Thank you for a lovely day, year one and for your lovely manners throughout.
