Cricket with the boys
On Thursday, 8 boys from Y5 and 6 represented our school at a cricket tournament at Mildenhall Cricket Club.
They played brilliantly, winning both of their pool games, beating St Louis by 51 runs and St Mary's by 28 runs. This qualified us for the semi-finals, where we played Great Heath. Our 8 wickets helped us to a 73 point victory! In the final, we played Paddocks. It was a very close game and there was a very contentious call given over a wicket (that we definitely knew was a wicket, but Paddocks definitely felt that it wasn't!) In the end, Paddocks won by 4 points (so we did feel very sore about not getting those 5 runs for that wicket!).
Coming 2nd was a great achievement, but I am most proud of how the boys supported each other and how fairly they played. They were respectful to their opponents and the teenage umpires in every game, even when our opponents weren't. There wasn't a ball we bowled, hit, struck or catch attempted without someone in the team praising them for their effort. There isn't a fair play trophy for cricket, but Mr Jackson said we definitely would have won it if there was.
