We have had another bumper week of learning, listening, reading, playing & exploring! Our Year 3 children had a great day at Audley End, exploring the secret doors & amazing gardens for inspiration with their Secret Garden learning. We have had lots of very beautiful & colourful eggs brought in, for our Easter Egg competition.
Our visit to St Peters church today, finished our week off on a lovely high note. The children sang brilliantly, and walked to and from the church without a hitch, they were all stars!
We hope you all have a peaceful and enjoyable Easter break.
Easter Egg Competition
We were inundated with fabulous Easter Egg creations this week!! The children had certainly put lots of effort into their Eggstra special Egg creations. We had stripy ones, paper mache ones, Batman & Spiderman eggs, Queen eggs, wow, the list goes on & on!! Do have a look at the photos on the website, they're all awesome!
Mindfulness Calendar: 5 minute activities
In our Suffolk County Council schools' newsletter this week, there is a mindfulness calendar that we wanted to share with you. As we all get worried and stressed at times, this calendar can be used by children and adults alike. To take 5 minutes out of our busy daily lives, can be beneficial to ourselves and those around us. If you would like to look at the calendar.. Click Here
Year 5 Swimming Lessons
Starting on Friday 29th April, our Year 5 children will have swimming lessons at the sports centre in Newmarket. A letter giving details of what your child will need, has been sent out this week. They will swim every Friday, for 10 weeks.
Please remember that breakfast club begins at 7:45am. Please do not arrive earlier than this. Thanks from the breakfast club team.
Fit For Sport have not yet been able to secure enough staff to open up the after-school club. Despite having a national recruitment team; holding recruitment events here at the school; large-scale social media campaigns; liaising with colleges, and many other ways, they have been unable to recruit enough high-quality staff.
I know that is disappointing for parents - it is for us too. It appears that the hospitality and childcare industries are struggling nationally. I believe that Fit For Sport are doing all that they can to secure staff to open up as soon as possible. They are very passionate about solving this problem for us, and have managed to employ one person so far.
If it would help, we would be happy to share details of any parents who are struggling, with other parents who are struggling, so that you can put your heads together to share ideas about short-term solutions until the club is up and running.
If you know of anybody who would like tp pursue a career in childcare, please pass on these details: email@example.com 07594 510227
Year 2 Easter Colouring & Craft
Our Year 2 children have enjoyed making a 3 D chicken & a 3 D Easter egg out of paper today. They have also been colouring lovely Easter pictures.
The 3 D egg was harder to make than you might expect, but they all mastered it with a little help, from Mrs Chittock. Check out the website for more photos.
Bag2School Collection Day
We are having a Bag2school collection here on Thursday 28th April. Please bring your bag to school and leave it in the main car park. Do not bring your bag before the 28th as we do not have space to store it here. The area to leave it in, will be marked by the red & white tape. Please leave your bag by 9am. Many thanks
Taking Holidays during the school term
Mrs Shipp has been very understanding over the past 18 months or so, with regard to families who have been unable to have any holiday due to the Covid pandemic. We have issued very few penalty notices as part of each time away has been authorised.
From September 2022, holidays taken outside the normal 13 weeks given, will not be authorised. Mrs Shipp will assess each request individually, if there is a specific reason for the holiday or a letter is received from employers giving full details why the holiday is needed, she might be able to authorise some/part of the time away. Some families are taking term time holidays every year, this will not be authorised. Please try to refrain from booking holidays during term time. Thank you
Today, a lovely bright peach dinner debt letter will be coming home, for those who have a debt for school dinners. Could we please ask that you keep on top of your dinner payments for your children? Please try to pay for the dinners at the beginning of the week, so that your account does not build up too high. Please click below to go to the Suffolk County Council website to pay for school dinners. Thank you
There is also a green letter coming home today, for those who have a dinner credit.
Breakfast Club Payments
Please can we ask that you pay your Breakfast club in advance, each week? Some of these debts are quite large, please pay your invoice as you receive it. Thank you
2nd Choice Dinners Sign Up
Please do remember to have a look at the 2nd choice dinners whilst you are away. The menu has been changed for the summer term, so there are different things for the children to try from the start of the new term.
We do only check this section of the website once a week, on a Monday morning, so please do make sure you have signed your child up by Sunday night. You can also go to the link quickly on the school app.
