In this week's collective worship, we have been thinking about Pentecost. Reverend Chris had his red robes on, which was a nice surprise for the children.
The Sports Fun Day was enjoyed by R - Y4 children. Y5 and Y6 looked on at them enviously - they will have their sports fun day on the 20th June. I will be having a go at scaling the huge wall!
We have LOADS of lost property. I will endeavour to photograph and share recognisable items next week, but do pop in and look at the navy PE hoodies and the red school jumpers/cardigans. If you have previously named your child's clothing, it has probably faded by now.
I would like to say a HUGE well done to our Y1 children who did their phonics check with me this week. Every single child came in with a 'can do' attitude. The big bowl of treats, and the sheet of shiny headteacher stickers certainly motivated them too! It was super to see the home practice paying off - some children decoded the words very quickly indeed. It is so important to read 5x per week with your child - it really is evident when this happens.
On the subject of assessments, Y4 children have their multiplication check coming up - please continue to practise times tables at home on either Times Table Rockstars, Hit The Button, or other similar games. You can practise them the 'old-fashioned' way too. Our screening shows that the 7x, 9x and 12x tables are sticking points for some children.
We have Local Authority moderators in school next Thursday to look at our Y6 writing, and to check our assessment judgements - well done to Y6 for doing so much writing over the past few weeks!
Y5 Parents - it is Bikeability next week, so your child will need their bike, helmet and drinks bottle in school.
It is lovely to be in school when the weather is nice - we survived the Covid winter, with all the windows open, and I like to feel that days like today are our reward! Let's hope that the warm weather continues over the weekend. Whatever you are doing, have a lovely time, and I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
The children have been working hard in school, take a peek to see what they've been up to...
The village pre school is having an open afternoon on the 13th July, in the village hall. The event will run from 2.30 until 4pm. If you have a child who is due to start pre school soon, why not pop along and meet the team?
It is not acceptable to block people's cars in the car park.
It is not acceptable to park in a disabled spot if you are not entitled to do so.
It is not acceptable to park outside the designated bays and cause congestion or potential accidents.
If you are unable to follow parking rules, please do not use the car park. We do not have the resources to police the car park, and we need all parents to show patience, consideration and an awareness of safety.
If you find the car park a stressful place, please park in the village and walk into the school grounds - it would only take a few minutes. If you are running late, we will keep your child safe - there is no need to become verbally abusive, or to park your car inconsiderately.
Reception, Year 1, 2, 3 & 4 PE Fun Days
Wow... we have truly had a great week of sporting activities in school. The enormous amount of photographs taken, show just how much fun the children had, climbing the wall, shooting arrows, scavenger hunting, team building, bottle rocket making. It seems, if they could do it, they would do it this week.
Could we please ask that you keep on top of your dinner payments for your children? Please try to pay for the dinners at the beginning of the week, so that your account does not build up too high. Please click below to go to the Suffolk County Council website to pay for school dinners. Thank you
Please can we ask that you pay your Breakfast club in advance, each week? Some of these debts are quite large, please pay your invoice as you receive it. Thank you
***Entry into Breakfast Club Each Morning***
Could we also ask that you DO NOT enter the school premises until a member of staff has arrived at Breakfast club and opened the door for you. You should also be signing your child in each morning. Please do not leave your child to walk in alone, from the drop-off zone.
FitForSport After School Club Starts Monday 6th June 2022
Well, they started as they mean to go on, with fun & sporting activities for all the children. The FitForSport after school began this week, and the children had a brilliant first afternoon with the team. Please use the link below if you are looking for some after school care for your children.
Our lunchtime team would be very grateful if you have any of the following items at home, not being used any more:
Dolls & dolls clothes
Toy cars & garages
The children love to play with their friends at lunchtime, they also like to dress up a doll, or zoom a car around the playground, into a play garage. The items we need should be plastic, if possible and need to be waterproof as they may get left outside. We do not need prams or buggies, or garages that are enormous, or enormous ride on cars! Many thanks
Year 5 Bike Ability Next Week

2nd Choice Dinners Sign Up

We do only check this section of the website once a week, on a Monday morning, so please do make sure you have signed your child up by Sunday night. You can also go to the link quickly on the school app.
The photographer was very impressed with our children this week. She said they were very polite and cheerful. The proofs have been sent home this week. If you would like to oder a copy of the class photo, please do so online, or send the proof & payment back into school.
