It is very hot! The children have coped well with the heat. Thank you for using sun -cream in the morning and for sending your children with hats.
In this week's collective worship, we shared a story, Brave As Can Be. I also told the children about my first, only, and last ski trip... I was paralysed with fear, and found it very hard to find my courage. I was asked by one child why I had declared never to ski again, when I tell them so often to try, try, try again...touche!
Mrs Gilmore and I worked with Local Authority writing moderators on Thursday. Both moderators were very impressed with the standard of the Y6 children's writing. We felt proud to show them off!
Year 5 and Year 6 children have their Fun PE day on Monday - please send them in to school in their PE kit.
Y6 parents - Private Peaceful, a book that your children read earlier in the year, is on at Norwich Theatre. I took Kendrick to see it last night, and it was fabulous. There are still seats left, and it is on until tomorrow - definitely worth a last minute booking if you are free, and fancy seeing a play.
I sent a separate email earlier in the week, but please can parents ensure that they do not come in to the drop-off zone too early at the start and at the end of the day.
Start of the day: not before 8:45am
End of the day: Not before 3:10pm
If we are unable to solve this issue, we will need to keep the gates locked until it is time for parents to enter - we have to consider everyone's safety.
Well done to all Year 4 children who did amazingly well in their multiplication check this week. Mrs Gilmore was very impressed with their attitudes. Similarly, well done to the Y2 children who have worked with Mrs Gilmore and I this week for their phonics check.
I hope that you all have a lovely weekend!
The children have been working hard in school, take a peek to see what they've been up to...
The village pre school is having an open afternoon on the 13th July, in the village hall. The event will run from 2.30 until 4pm. If you have a child who is due to start pre school soon, why not pop along and meet the team?
Hands On Workshops Wednesday 22nd June
Next Wednesday we are having 3 workshops here in school.
Year 1 children : Does it Float?? A session learning about how different items either float or sink, when put into water.
Year 2 children: Reuse, Renew, Recycle . Learning how the things we throw away are then made into other things
Year 6 children: Forensic Fingerprints . Learning about our fingerprints and their individuality.
We hope all the children enjoy their workshops, it will be a great day.
Year 5 Bike Ability
Our year 5 children have had a brilliant week on their bicycles. The sun shone & made each day much nicer. Many thanks to the 2 instructors, Tom & Simon. Let's hope the children can have a summer full of cycling fun.
Could we please ask that you keep on top of your dinner payments for your children? Please try to pay for the dinners at the beginning of the week, so that your account does not build up too high. Please click below to go to the Suffolk County Council website to pay for school dinners. Thank you
Please can we ask that you pay your Breakfast club in advance, each week? Some of these debts are quite large, please pay your invoice as you receive it. Thank you
***Entry into Breakfast Club Each Morning***
Could we also ask that you DO NOT enter the school premises until a member of staff has arrived at Breakfast club and opened the door for you. You should also be signing your child in each morning. Please do not leave your child to walk in alone, from the drop-off zone.
Mini Medics Sessions
Mrs Ferrie came in this week to educate our Year 3 & 4 children about the basics of First Aid. They learnt all about the recovery position and how to check for breathing. They had a good time and learnt valuable things for their future.
Some Lunchtime Toys
Our lunchtime team would be very grateful if you have any of the following items at home, not being used any more:
Dolls & dolls clothes
Toy cars & garages
The children love to play with their friends at lunchtime, they also like to dress up a doll, or zoom a car around the playground, into a play garage. The items we need should be plastic, if possible and need to be waterproof as they may get left outside. We do not need prams or buggies, or garages that are enormous, or enormous ride on cars! Many thanks
Year 5 & 6 PE Fun Day 20th June
The year 5 & 6 children will be outside for most of the day on Monday, enjoying their fun PE day.
They will be doing some Archery, Geocaching, Catapult building & climbing that very "small" wall we had last week. They will also be able to get up close & personal with some birds of prey. We hope they have a brilliant day.
2nd Choice Dinners Sign Up
Please do remember to have a look at the 2nd choice dinners over the weekend. Our kitchen ladies are trying out new & different menus, along with the classics that the children love.
We do only check this section of the website once a week, on a Monday morning, so please do make sure you have signed your child up by Sunday night. You can also go to the link quickly on the school app.
