Colchester Castle with Year 3
Year 3 had a wonderful trip to Colchester Castle. From exploring the foundations of the Temple of Claudius, built when Colchester was the first Roman capital of Britain, to exploring archaeological collections covering 2,500 years of history, including some of the most important Roman finds in Britain. When discussing Boudicca’s army, we relished the fact that Celtic women would sometimes fight, they were covered in blue paint and stuck their hair up like hedgehogs, and that these undisciplined often fought naked!
