Year 3 At Audley End
Year 3 visited Audley End House, braving rain, snow and hail to learn about life above and below stairs, as it would have been in Misslethwaite Manor in the late Victorian setting of our class book, ‘The Secret Garden’. Sadly, the weather meant a visit to the gardens and stables was not to be.
We explored the impressive rooms, asking and answering questions to uncover the story of the mansion house, including the great hall, library, coal gallery, bedrooms, sitting rooms, chapel and even the Braybrookes’ unique taxidermy collection!
We also learnt about the army of staff who kept everything running smoothly, visiting the Victorian service wing and nursery.
Staff and volunteers of Audley End House commented to the supervising adults how delightful the children were, which made us feel very proud.
