Year 3
Well, that’s our last full week wrapped up, and what a week it was! There's a definite collective sigh of exhaustion… mixed with a tinge of sadness as we edge closer to the end of a fantastic year. The Year 3 team couldn’t be prouder of the children. Their hard work, endless curiosity, blossoming independence, and brilliant sense of fun have made this year a joy from start to finish.
Next Tuesday: the children may bring in a board or card game on Tuesday to share with their friends. Please make sure it’s not a treasured one - just in case a dice goes rogue or a card vanishes! That said, this class has been impressively respectful with each other’s games this year.
No need to send in reading records next week, but do keep reading with the children over the summer. It is not only great practice - it’s also a wonderfully quiet way to unwind and connect.
You may notice the weighty bags coming home! They’re packed with a year’s worth of your child’s learning. Take a peek at those first-week activities and compare them to the latest work - you’ll be amazed by how far they’ve come!
We said a heartfelt goodbye in assembly today to one of our Year 3 stars, who’s moving on to new adventures. Luckily, we still have two more days to enjoy her wonderful presence in class.
This week, the children began crafting their very own Greek myths in English, with heroic journeys, mythical beasts, and dramatic plot twists! In maths, we decoded data and brought bar charts to life with some creative interpretation.
To cool things down in the summer heat, we finished the week with a delightful mix of seasonal-themed maths, English, and art activities - allowing the children to collaborate freely with their friends.
In science, we brought our topic on forces to a finish with a hands-on investigation into magnetism. Our junior physicists discovered that magnets push and pull, opposite poles attract, and not all metals are magnetic.
In music, I had the pleasure of being invited to an impromptu concert of “boom whacker” brilliance. The children found their rhythm and brought it all together in a colourful crescendo – thanks Miss Spinks!
Here’s to two more days of smiles, sunshine, and soaking up every last moment of a truly special year.

Year 4
Well, our last full week is over, only two days of the school year left and where did that time go? As the saying goes, 'Time flies when you're having fun' and we can honestly say, we have had fun teaching your child this year. We are sad to see them move on, but move on they must, and they are ready to go. They are going to really enjoy Year 5 and we will miss them. We have spent this week rounding off topics/units and have really appreciated the reduction in heat! End of year is always tricky, let alone having the addition of a heatwave.
In our learning this week;-
Maths - Continuing with Position and Direction this week we have looked at points on a graph and translation. With Mrs Harper the children continued with problem solving involving time. This is still proving to be tricky!
English - The children used their picture maps and actions to write up the focused text and use their imagination to write their own story using 'Rory's story cubes'.
DT - Finishing our slingshot cars ready to race them on Monday afternoon!
Computing/Science - Finishing and presenting their power points on invertebrates.
TUESDAY NEXT WEEK - your child is welcome to bring a game from home to play with friends. The game must not be electronic and they must be willing to share it with others.
Thank you for sending in the bags, your child has brought home pretty much everything they need except for just a couple of bits that will fit in their book bags next week. We have taken in your child's reading book, this, of course, doesn't mean they stop reading, please keep up reading over the summer holiday, it is such an important skill. TTR will still be available for use too.
As this is a final learning update for Year 4 may I firstly say a big 'Thank you' from ALL the team for the lovely words and gifts. We feel very valued. We would also like to wish you all a lovely summer holiday and hope you get lots of opportunity to make some lovely memories and I look forward to catching up with the children in the corridor or on the field at playtimes.
Best wishes
The Year 4 team
Year 5
We have done lots of finishing off this week. We evaluated our truss bridges; finished Highwayman monologues; conducted an experiment on the effect of friction; translated shapes and learnt about different humanist views. We finished reading the epic 'Highwayman' poem (lots of us guessed the ending - although we were surprised at the ending). We had calming Thursday afternoon finishing off lots of our art projects from this term. Sometimes, an hour just isn't long enough.
Our plan for next week:
Monday - children can come to school in non-uniform. Children can bring in a game to play with from home (nothing that can take photos or send messages, please). Toys/ games are brought in at own risk!
Tuesday - children going to see the King and Queen should wear their normal school uniform. Children remaining in school should wear their PE kit.
It seems like just yesterday that we were all finding our feet in September. Where has this year gone? Mrs Marsh, Mrs Nichols and myself have had such a wonderful year with your children. There has been lots of laughter every day - we've even managed to do some work every now and again, too! If I don't see you on Tuesday, have a restful summer holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone looking all grown up with their back-to-school hair on Wednesday, 3rd September.
I can't believe we only have 2 days left!
Have a super weekend
Miss Rutter, Mrs Marsh and Mrs Nichols
Year 6
As we reach the end of the school year, we wanted to share a final update on what has been a fun-filled and memorable week in Year 6. The children have taken part in a range of exciting activities including quizzes, maths puzzles, marble run construction, and team-building tasks. These activities have helped them reflect on their learning, celebrate their achievements, and enjoy their final days together as a class.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your support throughout the year. It has been a privilege to teach your children, and we are so proud of the progress they have made and how they have flourished—both academically and personally.
Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable summer, and we wish them all the very best for the next stage in their education.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday at 09:05 to share some memories of your children's time with us.
Please could we ask the children come into school on Tuesday in PE kits as they are challenging Y5 to a final rounders match.
Have a super weekend.
