We are committed to supporting healthy lifestyles and ensuring that children are ready to learn. Many of our pupils enjoy a daily carton of chilled semi-skimmed milk through the Cool Milk scheme, providing a healthy source of calcium, protein and vitamins to help fuel a busy school day.

Free Milk for Under Fives

Children under the age of five are entitled to receive free school milk. To ensure your child receives their milk as soon as possible, please register with Cool Milk. Registrations completed by 5.00 pm on a Tuesday will normally begin from the following week.

Free milk is available until the Friday before your child's fifth birthday. If you would like your child to continue receiving milk after this date, Cool Milk will contact you with details of the subsidised payment options.

For our Reception children, milk time is about much more than enjoying a healthy drink. Each day, the children come together to enjoy their milk while listening to a story. Those who do not have milk bring their water bottle to the story session. This calm, shared experience provides an opportunity to relax, develop a love of books and storytelling, build listening skills and enjoy a calm moment together as a class before continuing with their learning.

Subsidised Milk for Children Aged Five and Over

Children aged five and over can continue to receive school milk at a subsidised cost through the Cool Milk scheme. Parents can choose to pay in instalments throughout the year, making it an affordable way for children to continue enjoying a healthy drink each day.

In Years 1 and 2, milk is delivered to the classroom before morning break, and children enjoy drinking it outside with their friends on the playground. As pupils move into Key Stage 2, they take greater responsibility by collecting their own milk from the school fridge before heading outside. It is not uncommon to see older children kindly collecting milk for their friends too, reflecting the caring, supportive culture that is such an important part of our school.
