Pupil Leadership

Pupil Leadership

We believe that every child has the potential to make a positive difference. Our pupil leadership opportunities enable children to develop confidence, responsibility, compassion and the skills to inspire others. Through serving their school community, our pupils learn that leadership is about kindness, integrity and making a meaningful contribution.

Many of our leadership roles are undertaken by pupils in Years 5 and 6, although opportunities are available for younger children to become involved too. Whether children are leading an initiative, supporting younger pupils or taking part in the activities organised by our committees, everyone benefits. Those who lead develop valuable life skills, while those who participate gain confidence, deepen their understanding and are inspired to become the next generation of pupil leaders.

Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs)

Our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) promote road safety throughout the school community. They lead assemblies, organise competitions and awareness campaigns, share important safety messages and encourage everyone to think carefully about keeping themselves and others safe when travelling to and from school. Their work develops confidence, communication and leadership skills, while helping all pupils understand the importance of making safe and responsible choices.

Collective Worship Committee

Our Collective Worship Committee plays an important role in the spiritual life of our school. Members help to plan and lead engaging acts of collective worship, encouraging pupils to reflect on our Christian vision and values. They also organise activities and competitions linked to our school values, Christian festivals and significant local, national and global events, helping children to explore important issues and consider how they can make a positive difference in the world.

Library Team

Our Library Team helps to ensure that our library is a welcoming, organised and inspiring place where every child can discover the joy of reading. They promote books and reading across the school and take pride in caring for this important learning space.

One of the most rewarding parts of their role is sharing stories with younger children. Older pupils regularly read with younger pupils, nurturing a love of books, developing younger children's language and imagination, and building friendships across the school. At the same time, the older pupils strengthen their own confidence, fluency and communication skills while becoming positive role models for others.

Wellbeing Committee

Our Wellbeing Committee champions positive mental health and emotional wellbeing across the school. Members lead assemblies, organise competitions and plan activities that encourage kindness, resilience, healthy lifestyles and positive relationships. By raising awareness of wellbeing, they help create a culture where every child feels valued, supported and able to flourish.

Preparing Children for the Future

The experiences our children gain through pupil leadership prepare them for the next stages of their education and beyond. They develop confidence to speak in front of others, work collaboratively, organise events, solve problems, listen to different viewpoints and take responsibility for making a positive difference.

Just as importantly, pupils who participate in these activities learn to contribute positively, support one another and become active members of the school community. They see leadership in action and are inspired to step forward themselves in future years.

Together, these opportunities help our children grow into compassionate, resilient and responsible young people who are ready for the challenges of secondary school and adult life. They leave Moulton not only with excellent academic foundations, but also with the confidence, character and leadership skills to make a positive difference wherever life takes them.

One of the greatest measures of the success of our pupil leadership programme is seeing our former pupils continue to flourish long after they have left Moulton CEVC. We are always delighted to hear stories of ex-pupils taking on leadership roles in their secondary schools, including becoming sports leaders, prefects, members of school councils, lead roles in school productions, debate teams, student ambassadors, house captains and, in some cases, Head Girl or Head Boy. While every child's journey is unique, we believe that the confidence, responsibility, resilience and sense of service developed through the leadership opportunities at our school provide strong foundations for future success. It makes us incredibly proud to see our pupils continue to lead with integrity, compassion and a commitment to making a positive difference in their new school communities.
